Are there any animal shelters near Austin or San Antonio, TX, where i can adopt a special breed of cat?

Most of the cats that you see in shelters with breed labels aren't what they claim to be - especially in the case of the spotted cats. The shelters put fancy breed names on them, and that makes their "adoptablily" go up as people want a Mau, rather than a nicely spotted tabby cat. Having said that - I have seen quite a few "probable" Bengals in shelters. If you want to adopt a particular breed, then contact the breed rescue for that breed. You won't get a pedigreed cat, but you will get a cat that is probably what the rescue claims it to be, as they are really pretty good at identifying one of their own.
