Why does my dog give me his rawhide bones?

My dog is a boxer. He is very mild tempered. When I am sitting he will bring me his bone over and either drops it in my lap or at my feet. At first I thought he wanted to play fetch. I will toss it a few feet away and he will bring it back after about 2 or three times he stops bringing it back and lays down.
