Hazy smoke like shadows when I look left or right?

have a doctors appointment in a week. Just wondering a few things that might cause this. I have had it off and on for a year. I have had eye checks, and before they told me its just dust particles, only I see that too. This is more like shadowy hazy or smoke that swirls around when I look right or left quickly.
